Graphics Designer / Slides & Photos Scanning

Alison Tolman-Rogers

Alison Tolman-Rogers, Photo Transfer & Scanned Pictures Video Montage Designer

Allison attended Brown University, where she specialized in studio art printmaking, etching, silk screening, and other visual arts.  She is also a children’s book author and illustrator.  We are very fortunate to offer our customers the services of someone who brings her unique combination of training, craft, technical skill, and considerable artistic sensibility to the process.
As the czarina of our still photo transfer department, Allison applies her many skills in curating and editing the many rare photos that come to us.  She also provides a creative approach to producing our “Scattered Pictures” video montage creations, from clients’ pictures, to be shown at special events such as rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, anniversaries, and bar mitzvahs.

Andy Wong, Lab Manager and Film Transfer Specialist

Converting your precious film memories to digital media is a complex technical undertaking, and Play It Again Video places much of that responsibility on Andy Wong, our in-house principal engineer.

Andy Wong

Andy brings an extraordinary depth of experience to the task.  His work as a film editor began in Hong Kong, where he worked for HKTV,  the major private TV broadcasting system.  He edited both 35 and 16 mm film, later moving on to video tape editing as well.

In 1994, Andy moved to the United States, and while on business for another company he happened to walk into Play It Again video.  It was one of those serendipitous moments; when we realized what he could do, we hired him on the spot, and he has been working for us ever since.

Andy also directs the “Asian Spectrum” series on Malden public access television and he produces multilingual educational programming for the Tufts Medical Center.

When you bring your movies and videos to Play It Again, you can rest assured that they are being personally handled by someone with decades of professional experience, who applies the spirit of old world craftsmanship to 21st century technology.

Matt Lebel

Matt Lebel, Customer Service & Front Desk Manager

Matt studied sociology at the University of Connecticut and also studied media production at Emerson College.

Given his rather subdued demeanor, you might be surprised to know that Matt is the lead guitar and singer in a rock band known as the Guilloteenagers.  Matt, better known in the circle as Captain Airhab, is a also serious “air guitar” competitor.

Matt is ready and eager to take your call and answer your questions!

Gong Qiu

Qiu Gong, Video Transfer, Tape Restoration

Qiu hails from Shanghai.  While working at a real estate firm, she represented her company on their badminton and table tennis teams– major sports in China! She came to the USA to be with family that had already moved here.

Qiu is our master of video transfer, overseeing the bustling process of transferring all the many formats of customer’s videotapes to DVD’s and computer files.  To see her work is to give new meaning to the word “multitasking”!   Along with managing all the transfers from video tape, Gong also gives tender loving care to all the many crinkled, torn, crushed, broken, and otherwise distressed video tapes that come under her care.  She runs a sort of video cassette housing hospital, where she painstakingly transplants old video tapes out of broken housings into brand new ones.

Jon Kazanjian, Slide Scanning Department

Jon Kazanjian, Slide Transfer Manager

Before working at Play It Again, Jon was a superintendent on the Big Dig– Next time you drive under State Street, you can see his work all around you!

Jon has been working with Play It Again from the very start, and is the personification of our company service philosophy: fastidious attention to detail, and treating each item as if it were his own.  From storage to cataloguing, to cleaning,  reconstructing and delivering optimal technical specifications, you can be sure your slides – color, b&w, 35mm, oversized, glass slides, stereo slides – are getting the best treatment with Jon in charge.
